With
more and more crises each year,
Logan
County
leaders and citizens are getting better at responding to emergencies, officials
said Wednesday. Logan County Health
Commissioner Dr. Boyd C. Hoddinott said the community’s quick reaction to the
heat emergency this week shows how well the community’s response time to
emergencies is improving. “I think
it was wonderful how quickly the community came together,” he said, during a
regular meeting of the board of health conducted at the Logan County Highway
Garage meeting room. “We’re
getting better at these things. The schools responded rapidly. Everyone
responded rapidly. It was very serious and this shows how together we (members
of the
Logan
County
community) come together,” the commissioner continued.
He said the heat wasn’t as bad Wednesday as it was Tuesday.
“There were 100 deaths in
California
,” he said. “We called the high schools and told them we recommend they not
have outdoor practices.”
